As part of the session on "Mass Disaster / Mass Confusion: Understanding Our Energy and Water Future", he will be presenting on "International issues presented by energy and water needs and options, regulatory issues and implications for the future". The winter meeting of the FDCC takes place from February 26 to March 5, 2011. BOSLAW SUPPORTS "QUICKSTART - EARLY INTERVENTION FOR AUTISM" Suzanne Jacobson, founder of QuickStart, received a $9,000 donation for the organization from the law firm of Bertschi Orth Smith. The firm raised the money with a charity golf tournament June 4. QuickStart - Early Intervention for Autism is a non-profit organization founded in 2008 to give potentially autistic children a head start prior to their diagnosis. MARC SMITH TO SPEAK AT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE Marc Smith will be a speaker at the Department of Justice, Litigation meeting on “Bilingual Civil Litigation: A Work in Progress”. His presentation will be focused on reviewing the legislation and the litigants rights of proceeding in French in the Province of Ontario. He will also review the jurisprudence and demonstrate the challenges for the judiciary. DAVID TO CO-CHAIR INSURANCE SYMPOSIUM David Bertschi will co-chair at the Ontario Bar Association's Insurance Section Symposium entitled "Catch Up with Judicial Pronouncement on the New Rules of Civil Procedure Regarding Experts". The symposium will take place in Toronto on November 23, 2010. DAVID BERTSCHI TO SPEAK AT THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM FOR LIFE CARE PLANNERS David Bertschi will speak on "The New Rules of Civil Procedure and the Practical Application for Life Care Planners" at the Annual General Meeting of the International Symposium for Life Care Planners in Orlando, Florida on September 14, 2010. MARC SMITH TO PRESENT IN FRENCH ON OUT OF PROVINCE INSURANCE CLAIMS Marc Smith will be presenting to a group of French adjusters in Quebec on an “Overview of Insurance Law in Ontario and the recent amendments to the Insurance Act” which will include a review of the tort provisions such as threshold, general and special damages, the Family Law Act claims, the various amendments to the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule coming into effect on September 1st, 2010, the changes to the Rules of Civil Procedure effective January 1st, 2010 and Bill 18 and the impact for Quebec Insurers.
